Flutter - the new blogging software?

I came across this video on a website called barelydigital.com, outlining the latest advance and competition to twitter - maybe there is too much in twitter? See for yourself in the video.

In other news, I tried a bottle of Guinness the other evening. Not draught Guinness, the old-fashioned (!?!) "extra stout." I must say, it tasted a lot like Guinness, unsurprisingly, with the coffee/chocolatey notes and all, but it was a little livelier - not as smooth, and without the characteristic head. I presume this was because it was carbonated with "ordinary" CO2, rather than "fancy" widget-delivered nitrogen? The bottle (500ml) is lovely, with the Guinness signature cast (I presume) into the shoulder, and a smart but olde-worlde label on the front.

It was enjoyable, if a little unsettling visually, to be honest. We are subjected to so much advertising in relation to the look of the draught product that seeing the extra stout in the glass makes you fear it's gone off! Also, because of the carbonation, I found it difficult to imagine myself drinking more than one bottle of this at a time - probably a good thing given the stomachularly unsettling effect that the stout has on my digestive system.

  1. Did you know that Guinness launched a new flavor tonight? It's the 250th Anniversary Stout, and a bit lighter/fizzier than traditional Guinness.

  2. What Marina forgot to say is you can, aparently, only get this in the US, Singapore or some other place other than Ireland. Guess you have to be a Guinness Globetroter to get it and win a trip back to Ireland!

I have to say, I love a pint bottle off the shelf now and again. Has to be the right pub though, or you get funny looks :D

  3. @ Marina - Gah, that's hardly fair, tempting us like that is it!? I'll have to keep an eye out next time I'm abroad - is it bottled or draughty?

@ Adeptus - One doesn't even see it in bottles that regularly in a pub, or at least I don't. I get funny looks when I walk in a pub anyway, so that wouldn't surprise me....

  4. That's so strange that 250 isn't available in Ireland! I hope Guinness fixes that soon.

I've only had the 250 on tap ... I believe it's sold in bottles but the taste is much, much better than bottled Guinness (I prefer the canned variety).
