Post #2 for today - I can't get enough of this blogging it seems! I wanted to mention car cleaning. If you're lucky enough to own a car, and lucky enough that people get in the car with you, it's inevitable you'll want to clean it out some time or other so they think you like your car. Well, I had the afternoon to myself today, and I took out the trial size pack of Autoglym products that Martha got me last weekend (thanks hun!).
It's very satisfying, starting with a fairly dirty car and ending up with something fairly sparkly. You also tend to make it into a light maintenance job, so you check your fluids and pressures and tread depths and that kind of thing too.
What I used was:
Interior Shampoo - This stuff was the best I used this afternoon. There was a couple of stains on the upholstery in the car, but one squirt of this stuff and a quick rub with a damp cloth and hey presto, vamoose! Deadly.
Car Glass polish - cleaned the windows a treat.
Vinyl and rubber care - used this on the dash and plastic door trim, I think the interior shampoo would have been the better product here though. And the website suggested the shampoo too. Think this stuff is more for external trim.
Super resin polish - Make car shiny! Hard work, I used it after a wash and wax shampoo and wonder if it really is necessary? I highly recommend these products. And look at the car care guide on Autoglym's website as well, it gives you some really great advice on how to clean your car and use the products. I didn't look at it until after I'd done the job and I wish I'd looked before!
Still reading: Leonardo da Vinci. Passed the first set of plates, so I'm about a third through!

A thought struck me today. I'm used to the pain, that happens all the time, I think something and it doesn't agree with me, then bang, a clout round the ear. Anyway what I was thinking was that I used a wash/wax shampoo and then polished the car. This is the wrong way round. One should wash the car with shampoo only, then polish, then wax to replace the protective layers you've just polished off! D'oh. That's typical. Maybe next time I'll remember. I'll say to myself "oh, I wrote that down somewhere....blog it, where did I write it?"

ReplyDeletenot being a car owner I never realised how satifying cleaning a car could be, you have opened my eyes, I will now kidnap my neighbours car and clean it!!!!
