Wow. Has anybody else been watching this on eBay? The diving association that worked to try to rescue the whale from the Thames has put a watering can on eBay. This watering can is an authentic "as used in the rescue effort" artifact, and current bid at time of writing is £385.00.
That's a lot for a watering can, I hear you cry. Yes it is, but 2 days ago people had bid upwards of £100 000, and yesterday I was disappointed to read about all of those bids being withdrawn and left at about£10 000. Still a lot of money, though and this evening as I checked in I noted that bidding was well down, back to £385. An awful rollercoaster of an auction for the sellers!
They could never have believed the 6 figure bids, could they? I'd say they got excited seeing 5 figures though. There was after all, phenomenal coverage on the news media last weekend as this whale swam up the Thames, so perhaps, given the fact that it was a volunteer effort somebody or some agency might have wanted to donate a substantial amount to compensate the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).
I don't know, the world is mad anyway, so why not be mad in a good, charitable way. Any of you got some spare cash for a watering can?
Currently listening to: Sharon shannon, the Diamond Mountain Sessions. Yes, it is good.
The Leonardo Book? Light at the end of the tunnel. Coming up to p400. I intend to finish the book by Monday evening. Cross your fingers.
Announcement. 100 visitors. Yay.
