First time on the bike in 2006!

Started the bike up this evening. Peeled back the cover, trimmed some of the cobwebs away, took her down off the stand and put the key into the ignition lock............After only 3 bursts of 10 seconds or so of cranking she lit up! (It's important to realise that combustion hadn't taken place in approximately 4 and 1/2 months, so I was very impressed I didn't have to push start her)

I only wanted to see if she'd go, but once I heard her going I nipped inside and got my leathers on. It felt great strapping my gloves and helmet on! So I took her for a short spin (about 20 mins) - I'd forgotten how great it felt!

It really felt great to ride the bike again, really great. I didn't expect to enjoy it so much! Now it's very important that the weather improves and gets a bit milder, and we can put up a few more miles together.

Of course there'll need to be some polishing and cleaning shortly. And I might even take the restrictor out in June, get another couple of horses out! Then maybe a Givi rack? A box or 2? Some B&B'ing Martha, what do you think?

  1. Ahh the wind in your hair (under the helmet), the sound of the engine, makes me wish I could actually ride a bike. Hope you have lots of fun getting re-acquainted!!!
