The windows auto-update message has been reminding me that it has an update for XP over the last couple of days. Guess what it is? You've probably seen it already. It's a download that detects whether or not you're using a genuine copy of windows! Isn't that mad!
Why on earth would you be interested in downloading that if you have a hookie copy?
I was taken very aback by that, having a programme foisted (might that be too strong a word?) on you to prove whether or not your software is genuine. Nah, I don't think I can articulate what I'm thinking about that.
It's not even Big Brother-ey, or is it? Maybe, I think we tend to think of Big Brother as being some sort of shadowy governmental spy, CCTV watching our every move, social welfare numbers tracking transactions and so on - but now corporations are getting in on the act!!!! And it comes with an End User Licence Agreement - the cheek of it all.
For the record I have no concern in relation to the authenticity of my OS - reputable brand from a reputable retailer.
