Ford Focuses, or, be careful what you wish for!

My car broke down on Thursday. I haven't been in a fit state to blog since then. She'd been "misfiring" or generally misbehaving since last week. I booked it in on Wednesday for a service next week to try and diagnose and fix the problem, but it broke down on Thursday evening, in a kind of "I want a tow home" moment.

So I towed her home. And had it taken to the dealer's yesterday. At latest phone call (last night) it appears to be the fuel pump but they are not yet sure.

So I spent a goodly amount of money on a '00 Focus 1.6 with reasonable 60K mileage last June. Since then I've had it back to the dealer for

  • Ignition coil pack replacement;
  • Coolant bottle problem;
  • Driver side window rectifier replacement;
  • Suspension component (front anti roll drop links) replacement;
  • This fuel pump problem.
So the lesson I've learned is that spending a good amount of money on a car in the expectation of getting trouble-free motoring doesn't mean that you will get trouble-free motoring. Be careful out there.

  2. Constructive criticism. What else do you expect from a Canuck.
