Perhaps it's because it's the summer, but I appear to be moulting. Especially on the palm side of my knuckles. Can anybody suggest what vitamin I might be lacking? Answers in a comment box please, below this article.
All hail the Next Big Thing to hit Irish motoring! The Chinese SUV/4 by 4/Jeep/SoftRoader (all those names are wrong....) with 0 NCAP stars!!! It's called a Landwind, but it looks more like one of those old Opel Frontera things - which is how a lot of chineses cars are "designed." (well, not that they all look like Fronteras, more that they tend to buy old car designs and make them themselves)
Anyway, it'll be sure to be a big seller, because you'll be able to get the '06 plate and a jeep for next to nothing, and support Communism! None of them are that safe anyway in many ways, so hey, it's not a huge compromise to have a 0-star vehicle.
I bags the first one.....no actually I've just seen it only has a 2L engine. A 2L engine. That will make it perfect for Irish roads, given that nobody has to buy a jeep for pulling cattle out of ditches, or horseboxes up a hill or any other type of work that a working vehicle has to do.
Actually it comes with a choice of 3 engines. (What am I Jeremy Clarkson?) It's still rubbish looking though, and not safe. Just like all SUV/4 by 4/Jeep/SoftRoaders.
Interesting links - this is what a crash looks like

Looks dangerous. I wonder if it as any more dangerous than the Opel Frontera it's cloned from?
ReplyDeleteIt'll still sell though. Like u say Brian, cheap, '06 plate and 'SUV image'. That's all people want.
And the base model is 2 wheel drive. Can't see anyone bothering spending more money on 4wd when it looks the same. Why would you want 4wd? It still won't go off road.
I suppose it's aimed at the market that currently buys cheap Korean mid size saloons. They were pretending they had a meduim car for the money of a micra, now they can pretend they are so cool that they have an SUV for the cost of a Daewhoo some-thing-or-other.
Cool. Not.
You shouldn't look back and apply today's car safety standards to a car from early in the last decade.
ReplyDeleteWe could look at Henry Ford and give out about not having any airbags or crumple zones in the Model T, but wher would that get us.
Unfortunately vanity will prevail and people will sacrifice safety, comfort and performance for the prestige of having the latest registration plate.
